 As James Reimer prepared to meet the Buffalo Sabres in the Queen City on Saturday night, there was as much intrigue concerning those players who weren’t making the trip as there was for those who were.

While Reimer is set to face the Sabres down in Buffalo in the first leg of this home-and-home exhibition series, Jonathan Bernier was back on the ice at the Mastercard Centre on Saturday morning after missing practice on Friday.

Bernier admitted leaving Thursday’s pre-season game in Ottawa after one period due to an ailment caused by his knee pads, the protection goalies wear between their skin and their hefty goalie pads.
