Randy Carlyle isn’t going to go up to Colton Orr and give the bruising winger a hug, but there are other ways the Maple Leafs coach can show his appreciation for the kind of job Orr does.

With a win against Montreal nearly official on Saturday night, Orr and Frazer McLaren both saw 58 seconds of ice time during a Leafs power play.

“He shows us a lot of respect,” Orr said. “It was nice to give us that opportunity to go out and play during the power play.”

Of course, it’s not just the fighting that Orr and McLaren do that Carlyle views as valuable.
