The Maple Leafs are going to make the playoffs.

Is that a guarantee? No, but barring a complete collapse in their final 14 games, the Leafs will participate in the post-season for the first time in nine years.

With 40 points tucked away and the Carolina Hurricanes visiting the Air Canada Centre on Thursday night, the Leafs appear to be in good shape.

Rather than fall apart mentally like the team did last season when it began to run into trouble and the losses piled up, the Leafs instead have demonstrated resolve, picking up eight of 10 points since losing five in a row.
