Maple Leafs coach Randy Carlyle hasn’t barked much at his players during practice this season. But screw up a drill, especially while dragging around a five-game winless streak, and the coach might get a little ticked off.
Such was the case on Monday, when Carlyle halted a forechecking drill and let his players have it.
“We were not getting anything accomplished, so I had to call them over,” Carlyle said. “I noticed the building got really quiet so you guys could hear it.
“As far as (being) vocal, at times my personality can get that way. You’re better-served when you do it within the confines of privacy, if that is what you choose. Sometimes it happens. We are only human. And if sometimes things don’t go the way you like at times, that is part of your personality. They have to know that. I have moved on from it. One part of practice, one part I did not like and you move forward.”
The players took it in stride.
