Maple Leafs get Lupul back, trade Steckel to Ducks

TORONTO - Joffrey Lupul is back in the loop, while David Steckel is flying the coop.

Though the Maple Leafs could sit last year’s most consistent scorer one more game to give his broken forearm an extra three days to heal, Lupul expects to be in for Saturday night’s important match with the Winnipeg Jets. Toronto has lost a season-high four straight and a regulation loss to the Jets at the ACC puts them ahead of the Leafs in the playoff crunch.

To make room on the 23-man roster, the Leafs sent centre David Steckel to their favourite trading partners, the Anaheim Ducks, for smallish forward Ryan Lasch and a seventh-round pick in 2014. Lasch, a Californian who was playing in Sweden, will report to the AHL Marlies.

The Vancouver Canucks should replace ex-coach Alain Vigneault with...
  Guy Boucher.
  Lindy Ruff.
  Andy Murray.
  Jacques Martin.
  Brent Sutter.
  Don Hay.
  Other.
