Leafs sign Holzer for two more years
By Lance Hornby, Toronto Sun

Korbinian Holzer

The Maple Leafs feel absolutely wunderbar about German defenceman Korbinian Holzer’s play this season.

So they will be keeping him another two years, throught 2014-15, after signing him to a contract extension late Tuesday. Holzer has been playing big-time minutes of late alongside Dion Phaneuf.

General manager Dave Nonis didn’t break the bank, paying $725,000 and $850,000 US according to TSN. The 25-year-old Holzer was originally a John Ferguson draft pick in 2006. Two solid years with the Marlies cemented him a physical presence and last year’s run to the Calder Cup final with partner and current Leaf Mark Fraser was a further push for his development. He was projected to make the team this year and did so.

The Vancouver Canucks should replace ex-coach Alain Vigneault with...
  Guy Boucher.
  Lindy Ruff.
  Andy Murray.
  Jacques Martin.
  Brent Sutter.
  Don Hay.
  Other.
