Just don’t be led to believe the Calgary Flames’ first-line centre boarded the team bus Wednesday and bragged to his buddies about how he was feeling after a head-shot from rookie Charlie Coyle in Tuesday’s 2-1 shootout loss to the Minnesota Wild.
“To say I feel great today would be a blatant lie,” Stajan said after Wednesday’s practice at Pepsi Center in Denver, the final stop on the Flames’ two-game road-trip.
“My jaw is locked up. My neck is stiff. I don’t have a concussion, thankfully.”
That’s the good news.
No more than an hour after Stajan chatted with reporters in the Mile High City, word trickled out that Coyle would not be suspended for the hit.
The talented freshman, a second cousin of former Flames forward Tony Amonte, was whistled for a five-minute major for elbowing.
