Leafs zapped by Lightning
Failure to do little things big factor in loss

Do the little things correctly and with effort, hockey coaches will argue, you will win your fair share of games.

Failure to do so? The Maple Leafs were reminded on Tuesday night at the Tampa Bay Times Forum of what can happen when the details are forgotten.

The Leafs lost for just the third time in 10 road games this season, falling 4-2 against the Tampa Bay Lightning with an effort that was less than inspiring.

Mistakes led to the first two Lightning goals and then Ben Scrivens, who had been excellent, allowed a couple of bad ones in the third period, killing any chance for a Toronto comeback.

Before a sold-out crowd of 19,204 — including the usual group of several thousand Leafs fans — Tampa won its second in a row after snapping a six-game losing streak.
