Odds on Maple Leafs making playoffs? Pretty good
By ROB LONGLEY, QMI Agency

Sucker bet or money-making opportunity, you be the judge.

But with the Maple Leafs relatively strong start out of the gate in this sprint of an NHL season, there’s already talk of the playoffs. Yes, those playoffs, seemingly foreign land for a team that hasn’t visited the NHL post season since two lockouts ago.

Interestingly, the “P” word hasn’t come from the media (though that can’t be too far off) nor from inside the team itself as coach Randy Carlyle is quick to point out the team needs too much work in far too many areas.

But British-based, online bookmaker Bet365 has raised the possibility in terms of a proposition wager on its website. Catering to its many North American clients, Bet365 has listed an option of whether the Leafs will make the post-season for the first time since the 2003-04 season.

And even with their solid 9-6 start through 15 games, good enough for sixth place in the Eastern Conference, you might be surprised at the odds.

Would Patrick Roy make a good coach for the Colorado Avalanche?
  Yes, he's perfect
  No, he's not ready
  Bring him to Montreal!
