Dave Nonis: Maple Leafs roster needs tweaking
Team must transform into Randy Carlyle-style groupBy TERRY KOSHAN, QMI Agency
TORONTO - The bluster has been replaced by clinical reservation, or something close to it. Now, David Nonis, who has taken over from the fired Brian Burke as general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, has to prove there is more substance than what Burke brought in the past four playoff-less years. If not, Nonis will follow the same path Burke has taken, and likely sooner rather than later. There was no fire from Nonis on Sunday morning, about 31/2 hours before the Leafs hit the ice at the MasterCard Centre for their first on-ice session at training camp. That’s not his style, though you can bet he will bend the ear of Burke, a close friend, as he tries to mould a team that can get back to the playoffs after an absence from the post-season that has roots in 2004.
