No question how Burke feels on his way out of Leafs job
By JOE WARMINGTON, QMI Agency
TORONTO - The Steve Simmons era continues. “The best part about today Steve is I probably never have to talk to you again” former Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke said to Toronto Sun columnist Steve Simmons. That Burke let everyone see just how much the award-winning scribe got under his thin skin shows just how right Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment got the decision to turf him. After his goodbye performance Saturday they would be wise to fire him again — this time from his “special advisor” role they generously agreed to swallow. “I called Dale Lastman and suggested perhaps a role as a senior advisor might make sense. He said it did,” he told reporters at the Air Canada Centre. “I thought that’s what we were doing. I was informed yesterday that the senior advisor role is to the board and to Tom (Anselmi), not in hockey operations. That was not my understanding.” |
