Burke being Burke cost him his job
By STEVE SIMMONS, QMI Agency

Brian Burke speaks about his dismissal as general manager of the Maple Leafs during a news conference in Toronto yesterday. (Reuters)

The many sides of Brian Burke — mostly the good Brian — were on display as he ostensibly said goodbye to the Maple Leafs on Saturday afternoon.

He was smooth, gracious, occasionally contradictory — but that’s what you get from Burke. It’s never a straight line. It’s never something easily defined.

The longer you know him, and for me it’s coming on 30 years, the more sides you see, the more you admire, the more you dislike. The good Brian, the bully Brian, the loud Brian, the outrageous Brian, the Irish Brian, the honest Brian, the charitable Brian, the mean-spirited Brian, the big-hearted Brian, the angry Brian: Now the fired Brian.

Would Patrick Roy make a good coach for the Colorado Avalanche?
  Yes, he's perfect
  No, he's not ready
  Bring him to Montreal!
