Scrivens agrees: Allaire had 'huge' impact

TORONTO - Maple Leafs goaltender Ben Scrivens backed up fellow netminder James Reimer on Wednesday, telling the radio station the Fan 590 that departed goaltending consultant Francois Allaire had a “huge” impact on his fledgling professional career. It’s the same word Reimer had used this week when he talked to media after it became public knowledge that Allaire and the Leafs had gone their separate ways.
“He was huge for helping me battle mentally but also huge for my technique and my actual on-ice movement,” Scrivens said. “He has really helped guide my entire game as a whole.”
This after Allaire and Leafs general manager Brian Burke traded shots publicly, and after reports surfaced that the Leafs remain interested in acquiring goaltender Roberto Luongo from the Vancouver Canucks.
No matter how it is sliced, it’s not good that Burke claims Allaire’s methods are outdated when the two men Allaire impacted the most on the Leafs roster are so willing to defend him.
Who says there is nothing meaty to discuss Leafs-wise during the lockout?
They could make some actual news this week, when and if they get around to announcing Rick St. Croix as their new goaltending coach.
