Teachers to keep control of MLSE
By QMI Agency

The Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan do not plan to sell their shares in Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment. (QMI Agency files)

The Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan announced Friday it plans to retain control of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment amid speculation of an imminent sale of the sports company.

Pension officials launched a review of their ownership position in March after several parties approached them about buying the teachers' stake in the company. The teachers own just under 80% of MLSE.

The pension fund "has concluded this eight-month process with the decision to maintain its stake in MLSE, which has been and continues to be a very successful investment."

MLSE owns the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto FC, the Toronto Raptors and the Air Canada Centre.
