Reimer 'injury' handled correctly
By Steve Simmons, QMI Agency
Why was there such confusion over the status of Leafs goalie James Reimer (left) when it really was a rather simple misdiagnosis from Dr. Jonas Gustavsson? Reimer got knocked by Brian Gionta in last Saturday night’s game against Montreal and was clearly hurt bad enough that he couldn’t start against Philadelphia. He was having concussion-like symptoms, but didn’t necessarily suffer a concussion. So he hoped to return for the New York game but didn’t feel right after practicing the day before. And the Leafs responded by doing the right thing, and shutting him down. The headache, dizzy symptoms of a concussion are quite similar to the headache, dizzy symptoms of suffering whiplash. Until either are cleared, Reimer won’t be able to play. What the Leafs choose to call, it is their business: But in keeping him out, they are proceeding with caution and proceeding correctly.
