Leafs sign Boyce

The Toronto Maple Leafs signed forward Darryl Boyce to a one-year contract on Thursday. Boyce, 27, played in 46 games for the Maple Leafs in 2010-11 and collected five goals and eight assists with 33 penalty minutes. His plus/minus mark (+8) was second on the team. He was an even or plus in 36 of the 46 games played this past season. The native of Summerside, P.E.I. appeared in 35 games for the Toronto Marlies (AHL) in 2010-11 and recorded six goals and 10 assists. He was recalled from the Marlies on Dec. 30 and completed the season with the Leafs. His first career NHL goal was scored on the road against Ottawa’s Mike Brodeur on Jan. 1 and he earned a career-high three assists in a Feb. 8 win against the New York Islanders. |
