NHL Playoffs: BOS @ NYR

Leafs re-sign Rosehill
By LANCE HORNBY, QMI Agency

(QMI Agency files)

Jay Rosehill is coming back to the Maple Leafs with a one-year, $600,000 contract. The question is whether designated policeman Colton Orr returns at 100%.

Rosehill, the enforcer winger from Olds, Alta., has been battling for a full-time role with the Leafs since signing as a free agent two years ago. He filled in much of the second half of last season for Orr, who did not play after losing a Jan. 20 fight to George Parros of the Ducks in which he suffered a concussion.

The only time general manager Brian Burke updated Orr's condition was near season's end, when he said Orr could have accelerated his re-hab if the Leafs were going to make the playoffs. It was deemed best to let him make a full recovery.

Rosehill, meanwhile, ended the season with three points in 38 games. He was a minus-six with 71 penalty minutes, including a lively bout with Milan Lucic in Boston. He had 15 total fights in the NHL and AHL last season according to Hockeyfights.com.

After benching Brad Richards should the New York Rangers eventually just buy him out?
  Yes.
  Might be a good idea.
  No.
  Not sure.
