For the Leafs to make it ...
By ROB LONGLEY, QMI Agency
TORONTO - What will it take?
The Leafs need to win their final three games - Tuesday vs. Washington, Wednesday at New Jersey and Saturday vs. Montreal and hope for massive help from the Buffalo Sabres, Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers. The Leafs must pass two of those three to jump from 10th to eighth in the Eastern Conference.
Here, team-by-team, is how tough it is for the Leafs:
Buffalo - With 84 points, the Leafs trail the Sabres by six, but if Toronto goes 3-0 (in regulation) and the Sabres 0-3 the Leafs would win the tiebreaker based on seasonís series (seven points to six.)
New York Rangers - With a Rangers win or OT loss to Boston on Monday, the Leafs wouldnít be able to catch the Blueshirts. With a regulation loss by the Rangers, the Leafs would still need to go 3-0-0 and have the Rangers go 0-2-0.
Carolina - Leafs still need to win all three because of the other two teams in the race. If Carolina gets four points in their last three games, Toronto canít catch them.
