'We have character,' Reimer says
By ROB LONGLEY, QMI Agency

TORONTO - They are at different stages of their career — one a rookie goalie, the other a veteran forward — but for both players, the NHL post-season is just a rumour.

But the taste that James Reimer and Clarke MacArthur have had over the past three months has only fuelled their desire to get there.

“We have a great group of guys in here, immense character and immense ability to battle,” said Leafs goaltender James Reimer, who has quickly become a fan favourite.

“We have the biggest puzzle for a winning team and that’s character.”

The biggest piece, of course, is more points as MacArthur acknowledges. But as small victories go, even if the Leafs don’t pull off the shocker and make the post-season, they are poised to have their most productive season in the past four.

“We haven’t been in the playoffs, but we feel as though we’ve been in what feels like playoff games where our backs have been to the wall,” said MacArthur, who has yet to play in the playoffs in his two previous NHL seasons. “We could have easily thrown in the towel 10 games ago but we didn’t.”
