Leafs sign Brown to 3-year pact
By TERRY KOSHAN, QMI Agency
TORONTO - Mike Brown can stop worrying about his next shift. The Maple Leafs winger's determination paid off in a big way on Wednesday when he signed a three-year contract extension that will pay him a total of $2.21 million US. "I have never looked too much at how many years or what I was getting in a contract," Brown said. "I just took it year by year or game by game, and whatever happened, happened." Brown, who is out day to day with an upper-body injury (believed to be a shoulder problem), will earn $760,000 next season and $725,000 in each of the following two years. That's a nice raise over the $575,000 he is making in 2010-11. Brown has two goals and three assists in 27 games, but the Leafs value his grit and effort. "He is a warrior and goes to all of the tough areas," coach Ron Wilson said. "He fights battles for his teammates, blocks shots. He has been a good little player for us." |
