Mitchell out four to six weeks

TORONTO - What seemed like an innocent looking hit in practice a few days ago has turned serious for centre John Mitchell.
Coach Ron Wilson said Wednesday that the fourth liner will be out four to six weeks with unspecified damage to his MCL.
“It’s been a tough year for Mitchy overall,” Wilson said of him not playing nine of the team’s first 11 games and then being sat out a few more as Leaf fortunes dipped.
“He had started to play a little bit better. To miss four to six weeks isn’t good for him, but he’ll have to work hard off of the ice, watching games and try to pick up a few things.”
Mitchell had three points in 23 games and was a minus seven. The Leafs are expected to have a call-up from the Marlies before going on their four-game trip.
