TORONTO - Nazem Kadri had better get used to seeing that Toronto Marlies logo on his chest.
According to Maple Leaf management types, he might be there for a while.
“In a perfect world, we probably would not have called him up (in the first place),” Maple Leafs VP of hockey operations Dave Poulin admitted Friday. “But we were struggling and needed a boost.”
They didn’t get one from Kadri, who registered just six points (all assists) in 17 games before Poulin and assistant general manager Claude Loiselle informed the rookie Wednesday that he was heading back to the farm.
“He was given quality minutes with quality linemates and did not produce,” GM Brian Burke said. “Going down is not the end of the world. He’s there now and we’re going to keep him there to give him time to develop."
