TAKING FLIGHT

The Leafs took the unusual step of flying home from New York on Wednesday, changing clothes and heading to Montreal a day early for Saturday's game. The speculation is that some kind of final team gathering is in the works Thursday in Montreal. "If it is, it's our business," coach Ron Wilson said after Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the New York Rangers.

LOOSE LEAFS

Tomas Kaberle's minus-18 heading into the final game of the Leafs' season puts him at minus-34 the past three seasons. It could be his last game as a Leaf ... If Toronto doesn't get to 30 wins with a victory on Saturday, it will be the first time in a full season since 1990-91 ... Wilson is one win shy of tying John Brophy for 13th place in Leafs coaching wins with 64. Brophy had almost 21/2 seasons to work with compared to Wilson's two ... The Leafs have now played 73 back-to-back games since the lockout, but have swept just eight of them. They went 0-9 in 2010.
