Maple Leafs winger Colton Orr is a man of few words but he has received some heady praise from his peers.
Sports Illustrated's poll of NHL players lists him as the league's second toughest fighter, with 21% of votes, second only to Derek Boogaard of the Minnesota Wild at 44%. Boogaard and Orr made up more than two thirds of all selections, with the next highest a 5% backing for Jody Shelley, who inherited Orr's role with the New York Rangers. Orr had 211 penalty minutes before Tuesday night. SI polled 272 players.
When Fredrik Sjostrom heard a minor bantam team from his hometown of Kungalv on the west coast of Sweden was coming to town as part of a hockey tournament in Cornwall, he went to their hotel for a Q and A on Monday and got them into Tuesday morning's pre-game skate ... The Leafs were to give away 1,000 team sweaters at Tuesday's game as part of fan appreciation night.
