Leafs Report

HOME STICKING

The Leafs are not at present in the NHL's plans to play in one of the popular autumn start-up games in Europe or elsewhere.

"The Leafs will always answer the bell if the NHL asks us to do something internationally," Richard Peddie, president and CEO of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Ltd. said. "But there is nothing firm right now."

Peddie also says MLSEL is "definitely not interested" in the idea of sponsoring or purchasing a foreign club team after examining the possibility a few years ago, citing the need to make the Leafs more competitive.

NO PUCK LUCK

The Leafs' recent success -- points in 11 of the past 14 games -- is reflected in their improved offence with Toronto getting over the 200-goal mark for the season on Sunday against the Penguins. But with six games remaining, it could still be the lowest production by a Toronto team since 1997-98 when the club managed 194 goals. The next fewest was in 2007-08 with 231 goals.

LOOSE LEAFS

With 209 penalty minutes, Colton Orr has more than any Leaf in one season since Tie Domi's 214 in 2000-01. Also, Orr needs one more goal for a career NHL-best of three ... It was 36 years ago Tuesday that Lanny McDonald had his first of six hat tricks as a Leaf, against the Rangers.

The Vancouver Canucks should replace ex-coach Alain Vigneault with...
  Guy Boucher.
  Lindy Ruff.
  Andy Murray.
  Jacques Martin.
  Brent Sutter.
  Don Hay.
  Other.
