THURSDAY IN TORONTO

STINGY DEVILS

The Devils were living up to their stingy reputation to start the game. The Leafs didn't get their first shot on goal until 7:30 of the first period when Rickard Wallin went to the net for a good scoring chance against Yann Danis.

NEW LINE

Toronto debuted a fourth line of Colton Orr, Wallin and Jamie Lundmark and it had some good moments with Wallin and Lundmark each getting shots in the first period. In the second, Orr took on Andrew Peters in a spirited punch-up.

NICE WORK, KID

Carl Gunnarsson continued his fine defensive play. In the second period he saved a goal when Dainius Zubrus circled the net and was about to tuck the puck into an empty side. Gunnarsson reached out and knocked the puck off Zubrus stick. Gunnarsson is a team-leading plus-11.

STREAK SNAPPED

The last time New Jersey was in town, Feb. 2, the Leafs beat Danis 3-0. That also happened to be Jean-Sebastian Giguere's debut with the Maple Leafs. The Devils' David Clarkson finally scored on him at 15:46 of the second period last night, snapping a scoreless streak of 95.46 minutes.

KULEMIN'S HOT

Nikolai Kulemin came into the game with at least one point in six straight games (4 goals, eight points).
