Leafs Report

Rookie Maple Leafs' defenceman Carl Gunnarsson spent much of Thursday trying to recover from the crushing loss of his native Sweden to Slovakia in Olympic quarterfinal action Wednesday, ousting the defending champs.

"I stayed up all night to watch it, then I didn't even get to see the first two Slovak goals because they cut to women's bobsled," Gunnarsson chuckled. "When they cut away, the score was 0-0."

The Swedes would tie the game 2-2 before the Slovaks earned a 4-3 victory and a date in the semifinals against Canada on Friday.

"I thought we had a good team, but it just didn't work out," Gunnarsson said. "Everyone in Sweden is devastated."

NO DISTRACTION

Defenceman Garnet Exelby said players are not distracted with the March 3 trade deadline looming.

"It's something we have to deal with every year," he said. "It's no different this year."

Would Seattle be a good city for the NHL to relocate to?
Yes, it'd be a great market.
  Maybe, who knows.
No, they should go to Quebec instead.
