SHUFFLING THE DECK

Recent callup Viktor Stalberg has been moved up to a line with Christian Hanson and Lee Stempniak after impressing coach Ron Wilson with his play in a 3-2 win over the San Jose Sharks on Monday.

John Mitchell, meanwhile, shifts to a unit that includes Wayne Primeau and Colton Orr.

UNDER THE KNIFE

Maple Leafs defenceman Mike Komisarek went under the knife Wednesday to repair the torn labrum in his right shoulder.

Komisarek, who was shut down for the season a couple of weeks ago, was slated to be operated on by renowned orthopaedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews of Birmingham, Ala. His recovery period is expected to be 4-6 months, which should leave him ready for training camp in September, barring any setbacks.

Komisarek's right shoulder has been wonky ever since he scrapped with Boston's Milan Lucic back in Nov. 2008. Komisarek was a member of the Montreal Canadiens at the time.

STEEN MACHINE

Forward Alex Steen, who was dealt to the Blues along with Carlo Colaiacovo for Stempniak on Nov. 24, 2008, is loving his new hockey home.

"This is such a great sports town for hockey, football and baseball," Steen said from St. Louis on Wednesday. "It's very underrated. I really enjoy it here."
