Faceoff: Sharks at Leafs
By LANCE HORNBY, QMI Agency
MONDAY, 7 P.M. SNO, AM 640 THE STORYLINES - Ron Wilson faces his former team for the second time after Sharks ripped them 5-2 last season in California. - The Olympic line of Patrick Marleau, Joe Thornton and Dany Heatley have 202 points and none have missed a game this year. Their 28 power-play goals are just 10 less than the whole Leaf team. - San Jose often prefers to go with seven defencemen, and the acquisition of Niclas Wallin from Carolina likely means coach Todd McLellan keeps that going against the Leafs. SHARKS NOTES Sharks are 227-93-42 since Thornton joined the team in late 2005 ... Heatley registered a couple of power-play goals in Nashville on Saturday to stretch his scoring streak to six games ... In the game against the Predators, Joe Pavelski won 15 of 21 draws ... The Sharks boast the NHL's best road penalty kill and its No. 2 road power play. SHARKS INJURIES D Marc-Edouard Vlasic (lower-body) is out, C Manny Malhotra (lower-body) is doubtful. |
