Tributes to Brendan Burke and Mark Reedy were pouring in to tribute pages created in memory of the two young men who died in Friday’s tragic crash in Indiana.

“I wish to extend our deepest sympathies to the Burke family,” wrote Stacy D. Green, president of PFLAG Canada, on the RIP Brendan Burke Facebook group.

“Brendan’s journey had only begun. We know his courage will continue to inspire change.”

“Brendan is clearly someone who was taken way too early for us,” wrote Mike Garrison.

“He had an amazing amount of courage and will be an inspiration for many in the future. At least he knew his family truly loved him and stood by his side no matter what. My condolences to his family and Mark Reedy’s family.”

Kim Kirkham Hollon called Brendan a “brave young man” and a “trailblazer” in her posting.

Story will inspire

“I believe his story will always inspire and encourage honesty and tolerance, for us all to be who we are and proud of it. My memory of his tough dad telling anyone who cared to listen, how he’d be standing beside his son with an axe if they wanted to take him on — Brian Burke, what a fantastic father, I cannot imagine what he’s feeling right now.”

Another Facebook commemorative group called ‘Rest in Peace, Mark Reedy. We love you forever’ had also been created in memory of the young man who died in the same collision as Brendan.

“Mark was an amazing individual and such a talented artist,” wrote Peg Pasternak. “I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to get to know him as my student. I am deeply saddened by this tragedy. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all of his friends. There was nothing not to like about Mark. We have lost a rare and wonderful soul.”
