HIT PARADE

The Leafs may have given up a bunch of scoring in Brian Burke's weekend swaps, but they did acquire a leader in another statistical category.

Big-hitter Dion Phaneuf had 125 charted hits prior to Tuesday's game, 23 more than the closest Leaf, Alexei Ponikarovsky.

PHIL 'ER UP

Leafs sniper Phil Kessel is starting to warm up again after a prolonged drought. When he scored his 18th of the season in the second period, it gave him 10 points in the past 12 games.

NO MARTY PARTY

Perhaps underwhelmed by a Leafs lineup that included Tyler Bozak, Christian Hanson, Rickard Wallin and Wayne Primeau as its centres, Devils coach Jacques Lemaire opted to rest Marty Brodeur and go with Yann Danis in net. It was just the backup's first start since early November.
