CALM DOWN TOMAS

Not only are the Leafs fading from playoff view, Tomas Kaberle is risking a chance to be the club's lone trophy contender, albeit it's the Lady Byng, which doesn't exactly fit GM Brian Burke's truculence and testosterone formula.

Kaberle has now taken penalties in consecutive games for the second time this season.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, he had not done that since Feb. 6-8 2007 and he has not taken two in a game since Nov. 9, 2007. He has just 16 minutes in penalties this season and 222 in his 790-game career.

DINNER IS SERVED

Phil Kessel, Burke, coach Ron Wilson and hockey great Dick Irvin are part of the head table for the 2010 Rogers Conn Smythe Sports Celebrities Dinner for Easter Seals, this Wednesday at the Metro Convention Centre. Call 416-421-8377, ext 360 or 318, for ticket info.

CHASING KUBINA

There is some good news for the Leafs on this trip, namely Kessel's seven-game points streak (one goal, seven assists). A point on Saturday would equal Pavel Kubina's mark from the final eight games of the 2007-08 season.
