TAMPA -- Dave Andreychuk claims he didn't force Kiefer Sutherland into wearing a dress on David Letterman's show, but the "other" Dave Andreychuk did.

Andreychuk, the former Maple Leaf and now a community rep for the Tampa Bay Lightning, received a flood of messages a week ago Wednesday after Sutherland, star of the hit Fox TV series 24, bounded on to the Late Show stage wearing an ugly green paisley frock with army boots. He told Letterman he'd lost an NFL bet to "my friend Dave Andreychuk."

"He meant the Dave that used to be an Easton stick rep, who moved to Los Angeles where Kiefer and he became buddies," Andreychuk said Thursday at the St. Petes Times Forum. "I think he's originally from St. Louis, but he has the Andreychuk name. I knew right away who Sutherland meant, but I did get a few e-mails right away and a huge hit on my Twitter account."

Adding to the confusion was that many people knew the Canadian-born Sutherland is a huge hockey fan and had met the player Andreychuk a few times during Kings games in L.A. As fate would have it, Sutherland once had dinner with both namesakes.

"Now, how weird was that for Kiefer, to be eating with two guys named Dave Andreychuk?" Andreychuk said.
