Kessel off target

The shots keep coming for Maple Leafs sniper Phil Kessel.

But the goals certainly are not.

Kessel, playing with the newly recalled Tyler Bozak and winger Nikolai Kulemin, managed six shots at Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward last night, but just couldn't score.

Kessel's slump continues, with only one goal in his past 13 games.

"He just has to stick with it," Leafs coach Ron Wilson said.

"He has a special art (scoring), and when you're not doing it, you internalize and you start to beat yourself up and sometimes you're thinking too much during the game."

The Leafs coach was pleased with the play of the Kessel line and likely will stick with the combination until further notice.

"They created a bunch of scoring chances and were never a defensive liability," the coach said.

For Bozak, who played only his second game as a Leaf, playing with Kessel is a dream come true, despite his winger's slump.

"It's just a great privilege and something I didn't think would happen this year," he said.\

Would Patrick Roy make a good coach for the Colorado Avalanche?
