Mitchell, Stalberg at practice

EDMONTON -- The Leafs are on the ice at Rexall Place for an off-day practice with a couple new faces in uniform.

Forward John Mitchell, who has been out with a knee injury since late November, is practising for the first time. So too is Viktor Stalberg, who suffered a shoulder injury early last week.

It is unlikely either will play tomorrow against the Oilers, but the fact they made the trip means their return to action is likely imminent.

Coach Ron Wilson is sticking with his re-tooled line combos which includes a top trio of Matt Stajan, Nikolai Kulemin and Phil Kessel.

Wayne Primeau, meanwhile, is centring a second unit between Jason Blake and Lee Stempniak.

The Leafs begin their tour of Alberta tomorrow when they reach the midway point of the season against the Oilers, losers of seven in a row.

Then its off to Calgary for a Saturday date against the Flames.

After benching Brad Richards should the New York Rangers eventually just buy him out?
  Yes.
  Might be a good idea.
  No.
  Not sure.
