Stalberg won't play vs. Isles

Viktor Stalberg’s second stint with the Maple Leafs has come to a crashing halt.

The big rookie winger didn’t practice with the team Tuesday and did not join them on the trip to New York for Wednesday’s game against the Islanders.

Stalberg is listed as day-to-day with what coach Ron Wilson called an upper body injury after favouring his shoulder late in Monday’s 3-2 overtime loss to Buffalo.

Stalberg banged into Sabres forward Adam Mair in the second period and was in noticeable pain afterwards.

“He can’t play tomorrow so he’s not going to come with us,” Wilson said of the forward who scored twice in three games since being promoted from the Marlies “He’s added a different dimension. Sometimes we’re lacking a big guy with good speed.”

For the time being, anyway, the Leafs won’t recall a replacement. Instead, Rickard Wallin, a healthy scratch the past three games, will return to the lineup.

Would Patrick Roy make a good coach for the Colorado Avalanche?
  Yes, he's perfect
  No, he's not ready
  Bring him to Montreal!
