LAST NIGHT AT AIR CANADA CENTRE

JOHNNY SONGBIRD

With the Sabres-Leafs tilt being the final home game prior to Christmas, the Toronto organization dusted off an old favourite -- a recording of goaltender Johnny Bower singing Honky The Christmas Goose.

PIPE DREAMS

There was no shortage of goal posts being clanked in the second period. The Sabres ripped a pair of shots off the iron within 90 seconds midway through the frame, about five minutes after the Leafs' Jason Blake had fired one off the post behind Ryan Miller.

STALBERG'S SHOULDER

Maple Leafs forward Viktor Stalberg, who scored Toronto's first goal at 3:41 of the second period, seemed to be favouring his shoulder after being involved in a collision early in the third period. Fortunately he was able to return for his next shift.

After benching Brad Richards should the New York Rangers eventually just buy him out?
  Yes.
  Might be a good idea.
  No.
  Not sure.
