NOT YET, VESA

Goalie Vesa Toskala said he experienced no pain in his groin after practice yesterday. It was Toskala's first time on the ice since suffering a groin pull against the New York Islanders last week, an injury which has caused him to miss two games.

"I controlled every move I did and it felt good," Toskala said.

"It was just a little tweak (originally), but you still have to be careful with those things and not come back too soon."

But don't look for Toskala to be activated from injured reserve yet, which means Joey MacDonald probably will back up Jonas Gustavsson tonight.

"(Toskala) is going to have to practise hard for a few days before I am convinced he will be ready to even back up," coach Ron Wilson said.

Of Buffalo Sabres goalie Ryan Miller, whom the Leafs expect to face tonight, Wilson said Miller is "maybe the best goalie in the league right now."

KEEN OBSERVER

Defenceman Mike Komisarek missed eight games with a quadriceps injury, which meant he had lots of time on his hands. What did he see in his teammates' overall performance?

"Early on we were finding ways to lose games, and now we are finding ways to win," Komisarek said of the Leafs' modest two-game win streak. "We are burying chances, and early on we were not getting those goals."
