Leafs gear up for Canucks

Goalie shuffle

Vesa Toskala was part of a four-goalie practice rotation yesterday, a group that included Joey MacDonald, Jonas Gustavsson and James Reimer.

And while that didn't provide Toskala a lot of time between the pipes to work out his strengthening knee, he hopes that will change today. Because there is no scheduled morning skate, meaning Toskala can get some work in along with the other players coming off injury.

Toskala offered no timetable for his return.

Gustavsson practised again yesterday but said he was uncertain as to whether he could serve as the team's backup against the Canucks.

"I need to get back into game shape," said Gustavsson, who has been out for almost two weeks with a groin injury.

No tamper tantrum

Brian Burke played down his clashes with Vancouver counterpart Mike Gillis, who put the NHL on to the Leafs for tampering allegations at the draft. "I haven't paid much attention to any of that stuff," Burke said. "We were never formally notified of any claims, and they were summarily dismissed by the NHL."

Are you surprised Don Cherry backed Daniel Alfredsson's comments?
  Yes.
  No.
It's Don Cherry - who knows what he will say.
  Not sure.
