FIGHT NIGHT

You could see this one coming. Only 1:51 into his life as a Leaf, Colton Orr had his first scrap, taking on Habs heavyweight, Georges Laraque. The two squared off at centre ice, dropping the glove prior to a faceoff. Laraque ended it by wrestling Orr to the ice.

That was just an undercard tussle for the main event, as it would turn out. Later in the period, rookie Jay Rosehill pounded Travis Moen, landing several solid shots for the easy win.

POWER DOWN

The league-worst Leafs penalty kill from a year ago didn't get off to a stellar start. Brian Gionta's first goal of the game at 11:05 of the first came just four seconds into a four-minute Habs power play after Mike Komisarek was sent off for high sticking Scott Gomez.
