HUNTSVILLE -- Ron Wilson has made his first tough roster statement of training camp.

After an energetic two-hour practice here, the Leafs coach said forwards Jiri Tlusty and Nikolai Kulemin will not be in the lineup opening night.

The team is on the ice here in Muskoka getting serious about its preparations for Thursday's season opener.

"They haven't had a good enough camp," Wilson said. "They haven't earned it."

One player who has earned a spot is rookie Viktor Stalberg who looks like he will be on the top line when the season opens at home against Montreal.

Stalberg, a Swede who played college hockey at Vermont, led the league in pre-season scoring with six goals.

The other top line at practice anyway has Mikhail Grabovski with Alexei Ponikarovsky and Niklas Hagman.

Defenceman Mike Komisarek is not skating after suffering a minor groin injury on the weekend but Jeff Finger has returned to the ice after recuperating from a strained oblique muscle.

Komisarek said it is tightness in his hamstring that is bothering him, not his groin, but it won't force him to miss any games.

"It will take a lot more than this to keep me out," Komisarek said.

Coach Ron Wilson has five lines on the ice, meaning there is still some trimming to do.

Management plans to sort out the opening night lineup after tomorrow's practice here.
