With Andre Deveaux now with the Marlies, Jay Rosehill has been getting prime time as a candidate for special fourth-line assignments. In his fourth game of the pre-season, he rocked Jordan Staal with a first-period body check that enraged the Pittsburgh Penguins bench and he later fought Paul Bissonette.
BOWEN SILENCED
Joe Bowen hasn't been on any Leafs' pre-season broadcast, kayoed by a lingering case of laryngitis. Dennis Beyak and Marlies announcer John Bartlett have been filling in. Bowen has missed just a couple of regular-season games since the mid-1980s.
WALKOM HOME
Stephen Walkom, who left his post as NHL director of officiating to return to the ice as a referee, worked last night's game, next door from his old office at the league's Toronto branch.
