Considered at one time to be the probable No. 1 pick in the 2006 NHL entry draft, Phil Kessel plummeted to fifth overall where he was selected by the Boston Bruins. Of those top five players taken, however, no one has scored more NHL goals to date than Kessel. Here's a look:

Pos/Player Goals Draft position/ team

F/Phil Kessel 66 No. 5 overall/ Boston Bruins

F/Jordan Staal 63 No. 2 overall/ Pittsburgh Penguins

F/Jonathan Toews 58 No. 3 overall/ Chicago Blackhawks

F/Nicklas Backstrom 36 No. 4 overall/ Washington Capitals

D/Erik Johnson 5 No. 1 overall/ St. Louis Blues

After benching Brad Richards should the New York Rangers eventually just buy him out?
  Yes.
  Might be a good idea.
  No.
  Not sure.
