Blake, Stajan make debut

PITTSBURGH -- Jason Blake and Matt Stajan will make their pre-season debut for the Maple Leafs here tonight while top draft pick Nazem Kadri gets a break.

The Leafs play their third game in as many nights when they face a Pens team that will be without captain Sidney Crosby.

Pittsburgh coach Dan Bylsma is taking it easy on many of his veterans after last spring's length run to the Stanley Cup.

The Pens play just six games, including a return date with the Leafs in Toronto next Tuesday.

The Pens other big superstar, Evgeni Malkin, is slated to make his first start of the pre-season, however.

It looks like Joey MacDonald will get the start in the Toronto net and will be backed up by Andrew Engelage.

The Leafs practice in Toronto today before catching a short afternoon flight down here.

LeafsTV will have the action beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Are you surprised Don Cherry backed Daniel Alfredsson's comments?
  Yes.
  No.
It's Don Cherry - who knows what he will say.
