Who says 13 is unlucky?

BOSTON -- He wears No. 13.

He was playing in his 1,300th NHL game. And he reached the 30-goal plateau for the 13th time in his career. Even Mats Sundin was caught off-guard by the way the numbers lined up for him last night.

"Really? I've scored that many 13 times?" the captain said after his Maple Leafs drubbed the Boston Bruins 8-2 at the TD Banknorth Garden.

While it is obvious that the No. 13 is anything but unlucky for Sundin, the big Swede could care less about such stats. Nor is he enamoured with the personal hot streak he is on right now, one that has seen him roll up 13 points in the past seven games.

"I had no idea," said Sundin, who had a goal and two assists against the Bruins. "But that's not important right now. What's important is the fact we have a really big game with New Jersey (tomorrow), and then two against Philly.

"We're right there. We play Buffalo three times, Philly twice ... we just have to keep it going. We're all competitive in here. And we're still in the hunt."

Coming off player-of-the-week honours, Sundin appears as if he is gunning to repeat that feat this week. In the end, he'd much rather have a playoff spot, thanks.
