POS: Goal

VITALS: Age 27, 6-foot-0, 185 lbs.

STRENGTH: Played a career-high 72 games a year ago. Is at his best when he is square to the shooter.

WEAKNESS: Has penchant for allowing the odd weak goal. Vulnerable high, glove side.

FACT: His mask includes portraits of Wendel Clark, Doug Gilmour and Darryl Sittler, among others.

VESA TOSKALA #35

POS: Goal

VITALS: Age 30, 5-foot-10, 190 lbs.

STRENGTH: Acrobatic Finn relies on reflexes. Likes to flash his quick glove hand whenever possible.

WEAKNESS: Not the biggest of goaltenders. Has encountered problems handling the puck during the pre-season.

FACT: Idea for the skull painted on his mask originally came from a tatoo book.

IAN WHITE #7

POS: Defence

VITALS: Age:23, 5-foot-10, 185 lbs.

STRENGTH: Diminutive blue liner has unlimited offensive upside. Skates well and has great first-pass instincts.

WEAKNESS: Has defensive zone problems at times. Must improve coverage of opposing forwards in front of net.

FACT: His mom watched over his silver medal after the 2007 world juniors.

CARLO COLIAICOVO #8

POS: Defence

VITALS: Age 24, 6-foot-0, 200 lbs.

STRENGTH: Handles the puck well and has outstanding offensive instincts.Not afraid to jump up into play.

WEAKNESS: History of being brittle, a rep he is attempting to shed. To miss early portion of season after knee surgery.

FACT: Spent the summer living with his identical twin, Paulo, a goaltender.

TOMAS KABERLE #15

POS: Defence

VITALS: Age 29, 6-foot-1, 198 lbs.

STRENGTH: One of best puck-moving defencemen in the game.

WEAKNESS: Has carried the label of being soft, especially in past post-seasons against physical teams like Flyers.

FACT: His father, Frantisek Sr., was a member of the Czech national team in the 1970s.

BRYAN MCCABE #24

POS: Defence

VITALS: Age 32, 6-foot-2, 220 lbs.

STRENGTH: Uses his blistering shot on power play opportunities. Ranks in Top-5 among scoring defencemen in past three years.

WEAKNESS: Makes far too many questionable decisions, especially in his own zone. Scapegoat of home fans.

FACT: Wife Roberta drives a hot rod by Ed Belfour's Carman Custom Cars.

HALL GILL #25

POS: Defence

VITALS: Age 32, 6-foot-7, 250 lbs.

STRENGTH: Gangly blue liner uses his intimidating wingspan to take away passing lanes, especially on the penalty kill.

WEAKNESS: Often plays softer than his physical stature would suggest. Limited offensive skills.

FACT: Hal was a highly regarded high-school quarterback.

PAVEL KUBINA #31

POS: Defence

VITALS: Age 30, 6-foot-4, 244 lbs.

STRENGTH: At his best when he plays with an edge. Has a blistering shot which he probably doesn't use enough.

WEAKNESS: Can look awkward at times. A series of injuries made his first year with the Leafs a struggle.

FACT: Hired jet to attend the birth of his daughter in the Czech Republic.

STAFFAN KRONWALL #44

POS: Defence

VITALS: Age 21, 6-foot-4, 210 lbs.

STRENGTH: Good mobility for a large man. Very efficient in his own end when he does not try to do too much.

WEAKNESS: Does not use his size to his full advantage. Prone to make defensive gaffes.

FACT: Played against his brother, Nik, a Red Wings defenceman, during the pre-season.

ANDY WOZNIEWSKI #56

POS: Defence

VITALS: Age 27, 6-foot-4, 220 lbs.

STRENGTH: Deceptively quick for his stature. Has shown penchant during training camp to take more offensive chances.

WEAKNESS: Has struggled to stay healthy. Made team in 2005 and '06 only to be felled by various injuries.

FACT: Broke three bones in his face when hit by a shot last November.

MATS SUNDIN #13

POS: Centre

VITALS: Age 36, 6-foot-5, 230 lbs.

STRENGTH: Can carry the team on his back most nights, about to pass Darryl Sittler in Leafs career goals and points.

WEAKNESS: Trouble scoring in second half related to hip injury, approaching twilight of his career.

FACT: Completed 10 years as Leafs captain on Sept. 30.

JASON BLAKE #55

POS: Left wing

VITALS: Age 34, 5-foot-10, 180 lbs.

STRENGTH: Adds badly needed speed and scoring touch to the first line, considered an excellent room influence.

WEAKNESS: Size a drawback, could succumb to pressure of big contract.

FACT: Hometown of Moorhead, Minn., was the destination of the ill-fated plane carrying Buddy Holly.

NIK ANTROPOV #80

POS: Right wing

VITALS: Age 27, 6-foot-6, 230 lbs.

STRENGTH: Developing into one of the better Leafs down low, had a career-high 18 goals last year.

WEAKNESS: Is often slow to react and slow on his feet, still unable to show he can play healthy a full year.

FACT: Leafs were 18-4-3 when he collected a point last year.

DARCY TUCKER #16

POS: Right wing

VITALS: Age 32, 5-10, 178 lbs.

STRENGTH: Team energizer can hit, score and use his wheels. Has not slowed down after signing a new contract.

WEAKNESS: Still gets a little too wrapped up in some post-whistle incidents. A minus-23 the past two years.

FACT: Will play his 500th game as a Leaf this year.

ALEX STEEN #10

POS: Centre/RW

VITALS: Age 23, 6-foot-1, 205 lbs.

STRENGTH: Came to camp in better shape and can be plugged into a variety of offensive roles.

WEAKNESS: Doesn't finish off enough quality scoring chances. Could be more aggressive on the puck.

FACT: Was ranked first in NHL on the road with a plus/minus of 23.

KYLE WELLWOOD #42

POS: Centre/W

VITALS: Age 24, 5-foot-10, 180 lbs.

STRENGTH: Perhaps the most creative Leaf, can stickhandle in a phone booth. Had no penalty minutes in 48 games last year.

WEAKNESS: Not effective in scrums. Ongoing health issues are a concern.

FACT: Was traded even up for the Ottawa Senators' Jason Spezza when they were in junior.

ALEXEI PONIKAROVSKY #23

POS: Left wing

VITALS: Age 27, 6-foot-4, 220 lbs.

STRENGTH: Muscle-bound winger can create room, notched 21 goals and was a decent power-play producer.

WEAKNESS: Unlikely to be as effective without Sundin as his centre. Missed seven shootout attempts last year.

FACT: Has own web site, Poni23.com

MATT STAJAN #14

POS: Centre

VITALS: Age 23, 6-foot-1, 200 lbs.

STRENGTH: Feisty faceoff man and penalty killer. Did not miss a game last year. Community volunteer.

WEAKNESS: Must inject more offence in his game to be a well-rounded player. Two points in last seven games in '06-07.

FACT: Replaced Bryan McCabe as the team's union representative.

CHAD KILGER #18

POS: LW/Centre

VITALS: Age 31, 6-foot-4, 221 lbs.

STRENGTH: Good on the boards with a bomb of a shot. Will see some time at centre this year.

WEAKNESS: Scoring can be inconsistent. He doesn't always take advantage of his size.

FACT: His father Bob is a former member of provincial parliament and now mayor of Cornwall.

MARK BELL #9

POS: Centre/W

VITALS: Age 27, 6-foot-4 205 lbs.

STRENGTH: Had back to back 20-goal years with Chicago before a write-off season in San Jose. Mixes toughness into his game.

WEAKNESS: Previous off-ice incidents will be a distraction for the team all year. He's playing under the shadow of a jail term next summer.

FACT: Scored his first NHL goal on Patrick Roy.

JOHN POHL #21

POS: Centre

VITALS: Age 28, 6-foot-1, 205 lbs.

STRENGTH: Tireless worker scraped his way on to the roster. A key penalty killer and sometimes called upon in shootouts.

WEAKNESS: None glaring really, but he's just lost in the shuffle of crowded forwards.

FACT: His mom insisted he be born at the prestigious Mayo Clinic.

BATES BATTAGLIA #33

POS: Left wing

VITALS: Age 31, 6-foot-2, 205 lbs.

STRENGTH: Punishing hitter and a plus 9. Managed to play every game last year.

WEAKNESS: Needs to cash in more scoring chances to stay in the lineup.

FACT: One of three Chicago-born players on the full roster (Andy Wozniewski and Robbie Earl).

WADE BELAK #3

POS: RW/D

VITALS: Age 31, 6-foot-5, 221 lbs.

STRENGTH: Enthusiastic checker and team enforcer. Unafraid to comment on hot-button topics, hockey or otherwise.

WEAKNESS: A terrible finisher, has not scored since the 2003-04 season.

FACT: Posed in the same fashion magazine as David Beckham.

BOYD DEVEREAUX #22

POS: LW/Centre

VITALS: Age 29, 6-foot-2, 195 lbs.

STRENGTH: Good playmaker, with a dash of speed. Won't hurt you defensively.

WEAKNESS: Not built for the heavy going. Little to set him apart from many spare part forwards on the Leafs.

FACT: Won a Stanley Cup with the Red Wings in 2002.

KRIS NEWBURY #54

POS: Centre

VITALS: Age 25, 5-foot-10, 205 lbs.

STRENGTH: Bulldog forward can dish out some heavy checks. Playing centre is a bonus.

WEAKNESS: Has to bury chances at the big-league level.

FACT: Originally a fourth-round pick of the San Jose Sharks.
