1. Tonight/tomorrow, vs. Ottawa: Paul Maurice gets a taste of the Battle of Ontario right off the bat, starting the season with a home-and-home series against the rival Sens.

2. Oct. 9, vs. Florida: The Eagle returns to the Air Canada Centre. But will Eddie Belfour's creaky back allow him to start?

3. Oct. 28, at Montreal: In their previous regular-season visit to Montreal the Leafs were outscored 11-3 in a pair of humiliating losses last March that cost them a playoff berth. Can you say, "Revenge?"

4. Nov. 1, at Tampa: Pavel Kubina comes back after playing his entire career there. Someone had better provide him directions to the visitors dressing room.

5. Nov. 9, at Boston: Andrew Raycroft went from winning a Calder Trophy to falling out of favour with Bruins management. He'd like to make his first appearance as a Leaf at the TD Banknorth Garden a memorable one.

6. Nov. 11, vs. Montreal: The Habs are the perfect opponents for the annual Hall of Fame game, since former Canadien Patrick Roy headlines the list of 2006 inductees.

7. Dec. 9, at Detroit: A rare visits, indeed. In a silly NHL scheduling quirk, the Leafs will not play in Motown again until 2009-10 despite being just a four hour drive down the 401.

8. Dec. 15, at Carolina: Maurice goes home. Sort of, anyway. After spending so many seasons coaching on Tobacco Road, returning as coach of the Leafs stands to be an emotional night.

9. Feb. 10, vs. Pittsburgh: Sid the Kid comes to town. We can see the scalpers smiling already.

10. Feb. 17, vs. Edmonton: After falling just one game shy of a Stanley Cup with the Oilers, Michael Peca will line up against a lot of familiar faces.
