Trevor Peca and Cole Tucker likely don't know much about the feud between their famous hockey-playing dads.
Nor do they probably care.
Trevor and Cole, six-year-old boys, are a testament to the fact their fathers have let bygones be bygones and put the tumultuous past behind them.
Trevor and Cole are slated to be classmates when schools open across the GTA this week. There also is a chance the two boys will be on the same minor hockey team.
BIG HELP
So much for any lingering ill-will between Michael Peca and Darcy Tucker.
"Darcy has been great," said Michael Peca.
"After I signed, we set up a golf game. Now he has helped my son get into school. Our sons are the same age and will be going to school together in the same class. They may be playing minor hockey together.
"It's funny how things work out, but things are going well on that front. I expect to have a great friendship with him."
Tucker agrees, insisting that any left-over effects from his controversial hit on Peca during the 2002 playoff series between the Leafs and New York Islanders are long gone.
That much-publicized hit turned Peca's knee into mush, leading to some harsh feelings between the two.
"That's over with," Darcy Tucker said yesterday. "We've golfed a couple of times, but I still don't know him all that well. It'll be fun to get to know him better.
"Actually, over the summer I haven't been asked much about the past history between the two of us, which is nice. I just know we needed a player who does whatever it takes to win and he is that guy."
QUALITIES
Peca feels he and Tucker often mirror each other out on the ice.
"I think part of the reason we went at it so hard against each other even when I was in Buffalo and he was in Tampa Bay, is that we have a lot of similar character qualities," Peca said.
"That leads to clashes in hockey games because you are obviously doing things to tick off the other team. But now we're looking forward to play together."
Not to mention watching Trevor and Cole play together, too.
