The Maple Leafs will play host to a four-team rookie tournament starting Sept. 8 at Ricoh Coliseum, featuring Toronto's best prospects against those of the Montreal Canadiens, Florida Panthers and York University. Tickets are $8 for each game.

The main Leaf camp will be at Ricoh, with medicals on Sept. 14 and on-ice workouts commencing the next day. This year's condensed NHL training camps will see the Leafs jump right into exhibition games on Sept. 18 against the Buffalo Sabres.

STAJAN HASN'T YET SIGNED

Forward Matt Stajan would seem to have everything he needs to keep moving up the Leafs' depth chart -- except a new contract.

The restricted free agent was the most notable unsigned Leaf as informal workouts began yesterday.

"I'll get something done before camp," Stajan said. "It's not a big issue for me right now. It's just normal (negotiating)."

LOOSE LEAFS

Tommy Blatchford, who has worked with the Belfast Giants of the British League as well as the Marlies, has joined the Leafs equipment staff.
