SENATORS AT MAPLE LEAFS

TONIGHT

Air Canada Centre

7 p.m.

- TV: CBC

- Radio: Team 1200 AM, CJRC 1150 AM, Star 96 FM (Pembroke), Jewel 1220 AM.

PROFILE

24 BRYAN McCABE D

AGE: 30 HT: 6-foot-2 WT: 220 lbs.

2005-06 STATS: 10 GP 3 G 12 A 15 P 16 PIMs

THE SKINNY: Hey, who said McCabe wouldn't be able to compete in the "new" NHL? Too slow, some said, can't compete without his "can opener" (putting his stick between an opponent's legs and twisting). Well, look who's tied for second in NHL scoring, just two points behind leader Jaromir Jagr? ... Former teammate Brian Leetch said McCabe is the best partner he's ever had and is a Norris Trophy candidate ... He's tied with partner Tomas Kaberle with a team-leading average of 28 minutes, 57 seconds of ice time a game ... Was part of what turned out to be one of the most one-sided trades of all time as he was sent to Vancouver along with Todd Bertuzzi (and a third-round draft pick that turned out to be Jarkko Ruutu) by the Islanders for Trevor Linden.

BLACK AND BLUE REPORT

- SENATORS: None to report.

- MAPLE LEAFS: C Mats Sundin (fractured orbital bone), out indefinitely.

NOTEBOOK

Tonight's game will be the third of eight regular-season instalments in the Battle of Ontario. The Senators won the first two, both in shootouts, including the first in NHL history on opening night ... The Leafs have lost two of their last three and are coming off a 2-1 road loss in Boston on Thursday ... Dominik Hasek will be in goal for the Senators. Ottawa coach Bryan Murray said he hadn't made up his mind who would play in net tomorrow night against the Flyers at the Corel Centre ... There are still 1,500 tickets available for the Philly game ... The Senators are 6-0 against Northeast Division rivals this season ... Ottawa W Dany Heatley is one game away from tying the team record for longest point streak to start a season ... Toronto C Eric Lindros has 54 points in 41 career games against the Senators ... Senators F Mike Fisher took nine stitches in his chin from a high-stick that earned Montreal D Mathieu Dandenault a double-minor Thursday night ... The Israeli U-18 team, which lost to the Midget AA Nepean Raiders on Thursday night, took in the Senators practice yesterday. The team is coached by former Habs coach Jean Perron ... Senators F Martin Havlat will serve the fourth game of his five-game suspension tonight for kicking Boston's Hal Gill ... The Leafs own the best power play in the league at 29% efficiency (but it ranks 16th in the league at home).
